Who We Work With

A smiling multi-generational family sitting together, representing the Brain & Gut Institute’s focus on neurological balance

Adults

Our health at any age depends on our neurological, behavioral, emotional, and nervous system’s balance and resilience. A few of the well-established contributors to this are nutrition, lifestyle, and the connection we feel to ourselves, our environment, and other human beings. We are simply wired this way through evolution.

When we are uncomfortable in our bodies and minds, we are simply trying to survive and do not have the bandwidth to focus on healing and deeply fulfilling connections. Looking at health through a Neuro-Integrative Medicine lens that also incorporates the vagus nerve and Polyvagal Theory helps us to reach a higher level of health and quality of life on every level.

Children and Families

Raising children is challenging and often nerve-wracking! The extra time spent learning and implementing these tools will be incrementally beneficial year after year as your child develops. Clinical experience and research have shown for years that it’s possible to turn the tide for a baby headed for delays and avoid the stress it brings to families.

Our mission is to inform individuals, parents, and practitioners of new ways to “see” what babies are and aren’t doing through the lens of a developmental model. We can then provide easy-to-implement solutions to encourage the healing of neural pathways before they result in emotional and neurological delays. This helps give families the foundation for securing their children's sensory experience in the world.

Educators

The Brain & Gut Movement™ supports practitioners, teachers, and parents. We share strategies and understanding about how safety in our nervous system is required for all learning and self-regulation and how mobility is responsible for neurological development and recovery. Everyone works together to build solid foundations for children.

Implementing the Brain & Gut Movement™ program will provide a strong foundation for Educators and Families alike. Establishing a sense of understanding and connection helps students feel confident, supported, accepted, connected, safe, and, most importantly, loved.

Practitioners

We combine clinically relevant tools with new research in a usable way for practitioners. Our goal is to share our own experience working with children and their families to incorporate as many pieces of the neurological and physical health puzzle as possible for all practitioners. You can learn about the role of retained reflexes, developmental optometry, the microbiome of the gut and lung, and how the vagus nerve plays a role in the child’s sense of safety but also in recovering the family dynamic.

We hope you will join us in being a resource for your already existing adult patients who may be struggling with needs related to these tools, as well as for their children.
